Last night, Jennifer Tilly
emerged from WPT Ladies Night III the tournament winner. She played some fierce
poker at the Bicycle
Casino in California. She accredits
her win as convincing evidence that her victory in the World Series Ladies
tournament in July was no joking matter. She's good and she is beating the
female pros left and right.
The ground-breaking win from a
player who only began playing poker
about a year ago, is a major event.
Tilly is the first woman to hold
both of these prestigious titles in
women's poker. The poker playing victory earned
her a coveted seat in the $25,000 buy-in
to the highly anticipated WPT
Championship to be held next April at Bellagio. The WPT
and the Bicycle Casino will give $10,000
to Breast Cancer Research in honor
of Jennifer Tilly and the other
female competitors
seated at the final table.
Tilly began her poker playing by first playing in
the WPT Hollywood Home Game series.
She then played in the WPT
Invitational event which pits
celebrities against
pros every year. There she met Phil
"The Unabomber" Laak, a
top player who won that event.
A few months later the two began a
relationship. She learned how to
play more from him.
Some of the other poker players
playing for the win were Ladies
Night Champion Isabelle Mercier, Marsha
Waggoner, Cecelia Reyes Mortensen, and Aidiliy Elviro.
WPT Ladies Night III will be
televisd
Saturday, October 22 at 8PM EST on
the US cable Travel Channel.
