Gavin Smith wins first WPT Season 4 tourney
May 31
In the
first tournament of the World Poker Tour Season
IV, the clear champion is Gavin Smith. To become
this season's first player to win over a million
bucks, the Canadian defeated Ted Forrest. Online
casino gamblers all over the world are thrilled
to see another poker player win big, even if it
wasn't at an online casino.
Smith
survived the total of 317
poker players who began the journey to win a
total of
$1,128,278.
Additionally, Smith gets another 25 grand and a
chance to generate even more revenue at the
season ending Championship. This chance comes in
2006 at the Bellagio.
The climactic last
hand's action showed Forrest calling all in
with an ace/jack in the hole. Smith had two
queens in the hole. The flop showed
king/ten/nine, then the turn showed a five.
Finally, the river brought a four. Smith's
queens held strong winning the tournment. Good
job!
Don't feel bad for Forrest, he got $579,386
fro coming in second. Although it wasn't the
grand prize, it was not too shabby. Even third
place winner Chris Bell raked in $289,693. Not a
horrible situation at all.
The wide-spread popularity of televised poker
tournaments has definitely spilled over into the
online casino gambling industry. Online poker
playing has hit an all time high with many
players trying to take home the grand prize at
their favorite online casinos right from home.
