Nevada casinos post
record month for April
June 9
It seems that online casinos weren't the only
cash cows in April.
For casinos in Nevada,
April was a record month. In fact, this April
produced the biggest revenue ever recorded for
that month in the state of Nevada. Maybe a lot
of online casino gamblers made trips to Vegas in
that month.
Well, maybe it
wasn't online casino gamblers taking trips to
Vegas that did it. Many experts believe that the
new Wynn Las Vegas opening has a bit to do with
it - even though it didn't open until the 28th
of that month. That, and the fact that the game
of Baccarat raked in record earnings for Nevada
casinos. Yes, and the great local turnout from
Nevada residents, too.
Actually, since August 2004, Nevada casinos
have been swimming in cash-flow. But, the
Nevada
Gaming Control Board reported that collectively,
the 347 casinos in Nevada won a whopping $878.2
million in April. This figure is an increase of
just over 6% from the same month last year.
Vegas trends of setting revenue records are
expected to continue. Tourism has not slowed
down at all, either. The airport in Vegas has
also been posting record numbers of visitors
monthly.
Slots you ask? Yes, as always, the winnings
from slot machines was strong, too. Did we
really need to cover the slots issue?
Table action, not as big
a winner (alas, it was up from 2004) for casinos
that month. Tables were said to have been slow
in April. Maybe this was because so many people
played Texas Hold'em at their favorite online
casinos.
